Do you like singing and dancing? The Seattle Central Glee club is accepting new members.
Glee club comes together every Tuesday between 3:00pm and 5:00pm.
If you want to join, simply go to the Dance or MAC 210 Conference Room both located inside the Mitchell Activity Center, opposite of the main campus.
Practicing happens every Tuesday; Glee members practice for performances at events like the Lunar New Year and Black History Celebration.
Events for this quarter were the Masquerade Ball (April 29) and the 2011 Unity Fair (May 26).
According to Jon Morada from the Glee Club, Glee Club is for everybody who likes singing or dancing and performing in acts.
Glee Club is proud to have members from different nationalities and also hopes to “bring unity and understanding between straight and queer students.” It’s on their mission statements together with “just having a good time with other students.”
The current popularity of the Glee club isn’t a complete coincidence.
Ever since the TV hit series “Glee” started, Glee clubs around the country are popping up, or see a big increase in members.
International students who until a year ago had never heard of a “Glee” club, might have seen the TV show and become psyched to hear there’s an actual Glee club in our school. “There’s a real Glee Club?” and “How do I join them?” are common questions asked by Seattle Central students about Glee Club.
In the TV series that airs on FOX, a high school Glee club competes in a choir competition against other high schools. The show follows the members and the conflicts that arise for the performers.In the show, Glee club helps them with those problems.
The series covers a lot of pop songs. CD’s and Internet downloads of these covers sell extremely well.
Because of the popularity there now even Glee books, there is a Glee iPad application and a Glee video game is in the making.
If you are interested in joining the Glee club, make sure you qualify for all the membership requirements:
-You must be able to work with students from a different background.
- Not having problems with following directions.
- Love to sing.
- Able to attend to attend every Tuesday.

Although Seattle central Glee club likes to have as much fun as possible, some students may be disappointed if they find out its not exactly like the TV series. For those who do enjoy singing and performing, Seattle central’s Glee club is definitely worth joining.
Besides having performances at the larger Seattle Central events, Glee club also comes together to have lectures about singing and acting and through out the year has some fun parties with all the other Glee members.
