Smoking Attitude Should Be Reformed

Although there are so many complaints from students who are nonsmoking, Seattle Central Community College has not shown any concern or effective solution toward this problem. Hung Le, one international student and also a nonsmoker, criticized “I feel so uncomfortable and irritated every time I inhale a smoke from the cigarettes. I try to get away from smokers, but it seems impossible because everywhere I go, I encounter people smoking. Moreover, I think I cannot avoid inhaling smoke because all my intimate friends are smoking. In addition, people usually smoke so close to the main door, which I have to pass if I want to get in or get out school”. (more…)

Students Say Internet Has Improved in Dorms

Just 36 students remain in The Studio apartments at Seattle Central’s student dormitory which was completed in 2010 with a capacity of over 80 residents. Among the many problems, residents struggled with poor internet access, which eventually led to a major argument between students and Seattle Central Housing staff. (more…)

The End of Work Study for Students

Many Students receive state Work Study as part of financial aid, but that may not be the case next year.  Facing termination, the Work Study program allows students to earn money for college through part-time work along with gaining work experience.  Work Study also gives students an alternative to high interest loans. Students, however, do not know if funding for their jobs will be available for the 2012 – 13 school year. (more…)
